The consistent damage is more friendly to your pet, who is taking the mob. In many cases you can simply auto attack and kill very quickly (something you will do when you need to regain mana, but want to keep up the killing.) Avoid doing this all the time, as using your mana for your shots will greatly increase your experience gain.

The best cat that I have found to use, is one you can get in your early 40s. In Stranglethorn Vale you will be able to tame King Bangladesh, who is easily the best cat for his level. I still use him today at level 80.

Leveling a hunter is really painless with a cat. They do everything you need your pet to do, from grinding to PvP.
